The Amazing 100 Miles Receives the Sampler Foundation's Cooperative Spirit Award!The 10th annual We Kan! awards were presented to ten recipients at the 2002 Kansas Sampler Festival held May 4 & 5 in Independence. Each year the Kansas Sampler Foundation picks ten unsuspecting recipients or organizations from around the state that have made outstanding efforts to help preserve and sustain rural culture in their area. One of the ten 2002 winners is the Amazing 100 Miles which received the cooperative spirit award. Foundation director Marci Penner said, "It is the vision and passion of these award winners and others like them that will help keep our rural communities alive and thriving. We are so pleased to recognize these excellent efforts."The 2005 board of directors for the Amazing 100 Miles include J. Jean Mettlen of Lucas, Marge Lawson of Sylvan Grove, Wayne Grabbe of Russell, Marilyn Helmer of Lincoln, Father Jerome Morgan of Salina, Connie Dougherty of Lucas, Dennis Katzenmeier of Ellsworth, and Kristin Schmitt of Russell. |
